Admissions

Admission to Albayan Schools is open to new students of any race, religion or ethnicity who can benefit from Albayan programs, whether in French or English. Our admissions policy aims to provide an outstanding educational program for all.

Preschool

Choosing the right preschool for your child can be as exciting as it is overwhelming. This is your child’s first step in the educational system, and it is important that you make sure that the school and program you select are a good fit for your child.

Albayan Schools guarantee that eligible preschoolers, ages 3 to 5, can be enrolled at school.

  • KG1/PS1: Must turn 3 years of age by January 31
  • KG2/PS2: Must turn 4 years of age by January 31
  • KG3/PS3: Must turn 5 years of age by January 31

We suggest you arrange a visit to our preschool in order to make an informed decision. You will be able to:

  • Meet the Preschool Head of Division to receive answers to your questions and discuss any concerns.
  • Visit the accounting department to inquire about fees, payment, scholarships, etc.
  • Fill out a confidential form with your personal data along with any additional key information about your child.
  • Arrange your child’s interview to complete the evaluation process (acceptance is based on skills we observe.)

Assessment and Examination

Your child will be assessed within a session conducted during daily classroom activities. This will ensure that your child feels comfortable and behaves naturally. Our preschool teachers will evaluate your child in various skill areas including:

  • Gross and fine motor skills.
  • Hand-eye coordination.
  • Recognition of letters, shapes, numbers, colors, etc.
  • Speech skills, including articulation.
  • Social skills (especially with strangers, teachers, parents, and friends).

Documents Required

Upon completing an application, the following records must be submitted:

  • Child’s Individual Civil Registration extract or a copy of the child’s passport (if available).
  • Legal guardian or custodial papers (if applicable)
  • Two or more emergency contacts besides parents (names and phone numbers).
  • Two passport photos
  • Medical records including vaccination records.
  • Any special evaluations carried out by a previous school or outside agencies (if applicable).
  • School attestation from previous school certifying student’s registration with the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education, class, and successful completion of the previous academic year.

Register

Once you have completed the application process and submitted all the required documents, you will receive your child’s acceptance form and a UNIQUE USERNAME AND PASSWORD to login to our school portal and school applications.

On completion of the form, you will need to make a down payment for admission fees in order to reserve your child’s place.

Elementary, Middle and Secondary Cycles

  • Grade 1 Candidates should meet the Preschool Head of Division to receive answers to your questions and discuss any concerns.
  • Grades 2 till 12 Candidates should meet the Head of Divisions to receive answers to your questions and discuss any concerns.
  • Visit the accounting department to inquire about fees, payment, and scholarships, etc.
  • Fill out a confidential form with your personal data along with any additional key information about your child.
  • Book a placement test to complete the evaluation process (acceptance is based on the evaluation of the child’s skills and interview results).

Assessment and Examination

Elementary School (Grades 1 till 6)

An entrance evaluation (upon appointment) is compulsory in the subjects of Arabic, English/French, and mathematics. The time allotted for each evaluation is 20 to 30 minutes. Teachers of each subject provide feedback and follow up with parents/guardians.

Approval criteria is based on a specific scale the student has achieved in the assessment.

Middle School (Grades 7, 8, & 9)

An entrance evaluation (upon appointment) is compulsory in the subjects of Arabic, English/French, and mathematics. The time allotted for each evaluation is 30 to 40 minutes. Teachers of each subject provide feedback and follow up with parents/guardians.

Approval criteria is based on a specific scale the student has achieved in the assessment.

Secondary School (Grades 10, 11, & 12)

An entrance evaluation (upon appointment) is compulsory in the three subjects of biology, mathematics, and chemistry or physics. The time allotted for each evaluation is 40 to 50 minutes. Teachers of each subject provide feedback and follow up with parents/guardians.

Approval criteria is based on a specific scale the student has achieved in the assessment.

Note: Grade 9 students who are promoted to Grade 10 may enroll at Albayan Schools based on their official exam results. They must submit to school regulations and policies.

  • Student’s Individual Civil Registration extract and a copy of the student’s foreign passport (if available).
  • Legal guardian or custodial papers (if applicable).
  • Two or more emergency contacts besides parents (names and phone numbers).
  • A discipline report from previous school.
  • Academic records from the past year.
  • Any special evaluations carried out by a previous school or outside agencies, if applicable, must be presented.
  • Academic references from the student’s previous school, if applicable.
  • Medical records including vaccination records.
  • School attestation from previous school certifying student’s registration with the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education, class, and successful completion of the previous academic year.
  • Official exam results for Grade 9 students who are promoted to Grade 10.

Register

Foreign Curriculum (High School System)

In addition to the Lebanese curriculum which is implemented in Lebanese public and private schools, only three foreign educational systems are allowed in private schools and regulated by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education in order to ensure quality: 

  • The French system
  • The International Baccalaureate system
  • The High School System known as The American System

Albayan Schools currently offer the High School System and is recognized by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

Albayan Schools offers the High School System in English or French languages depending on the parents/students’ choice.

Grade 1 to Grade 12 students can pursue the foreign educational system legally recognized in Lebanon and at Albayan Schools on the condition that they are exempt from the Lebanese curriculum under one of the following categories:

  • A Lebanese who studied abroad (law 29/73).
  • A non-Lebanese or a Lebanese who is a holder of another country's passport, and who has studied abroad or in Lebanon.

Assessment and Examination

High school students follow the same assessment and examination process as Lebanese curriculum students mentioned in previous sections, according to their grade level.

Documents Required to Enter The High School System

  • Student’s Individual Civil Registration extract and a copy of the student’s foreign passport (if available).
  • A discipline report from previous school.
  • Academic records from the past year.
  • Any special evaluations carried out by a previous school or outside agencies, if applicable, must be presented.
  • Academic references from the student’s previous school, if applicable.
  • Medical records including vaccination records.
  • Either of the following is required depending on the candidate’s status:
  1. New applicants who have never been enrolled in the Foreign Curriculum System: MUST present a permission from the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education certifying student’s exemption from the Lebanese curriculum and can pursue a foreign educational system; or,
  2. New applicants coming from other schools and who were previously enrolled in the Foreign Curriculum System: MUST present a school attestation from previous school certifying student’s registration with the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education, class, successful completion of the previous academic year, and exemption from the Lebanese curriculum.
